On the 23rd of October we had our Calf and Lamb Day. Students participated in showing their Calves and Lambs as well as entering items for indoor exhibits. Thank you to Brydee who took the time to take the photos and Miss Ogle who let us share the movie from her class blog.
For Calf and Lamb day we made paper machie pants . It was fun, Brody has done paper machie lots of times before so he knew exactly what he was doing . He enjoyed choosing the colour to paint it and decorating it with spots.
Brody and Marie thank you so much for my amazing presents ! Brody was excited when he gave them to me. The kids started to sing me happy birthday and Brody joined in with his whole heart. I loved my cupcake he was pretty proud when he handed that to me! When I opened my big present and said ow wow he looked at me and repeated it ,then lent in and gave me a big hug ! Just when I thought I had opened them all he found another present and opened it for me and handed it to me and said pretty. Thanks Brody and Marie for my amazing gifts .
Yesterday was our school calf and Lamb day and I went out and took some photos of my classmates and there calves and lambs. Oliver had a calf called Sugar and Daragh and Jaz had lambs !Daraghs was called DJ and Jazz,s was called Precious. The kids had lots of fun showing them and. I really enjoyed taking photos.
Brody and his class mates were taking photos with their I pads using a green screen so we used one of Brodys images from Disneyland and a image of a Lion.
In the Disneyland picture it looks like he is lying on the water. To take this picture I had to get Brody lying on his school desk with the green screen behind him. He did wonder what I was doing to start with then when I had taken the picture he could see what we had done. In the lion picture we didn't have it quite right you can see in the left hand side we were not in front of the green screen and you can see some green lines through the lion but it was our first go and we had fun doing it .
Im making a paper machie piggy bank . If I fill it up I will have lots of money for my next big trip away. At first I didn't really like having the glue on my fingers but I learnt it got washed off . I liked painting my pig. Now come on Mum and Dad lets fill it up !
I have to learn to stop pouring and just add alittle at a time.
I like to stir all the ingredients together.
I am learning to flip the pancakes and be careful of the hot surface.
Ah taste testing the best part of all !
Nutella on pikelets YUM YUM YUM
Brody really enjoyed cooking today he was very keen to crack the egg ,he got it out of the container and said egg crack crack and gave it a little bang on the table. Luckily it never broke. We are working on measuring out the ingredients and stopping at the top. Brody loves to taste test at the end.
Meccano I love it ! Mum and Dad brought me some meccano to work on at school and i have really been enjoying making the motor bike and the helicopter . I found it a bit tricky to start with but Arnita helped me to piece together the little bits and then i could use the screwdriver to attach the pieces . I was quite excited at the end when it turned out to be a motorbike and even had a little police man to ride on it !
Brody recently went on a school trip to Tawhiti museum. He enjoyed the bus ride down with all the children. When we got to the museum Brody really enjoyed seeing all the models and liked to push the interactive buttons and watch what was happening. One of his favourite things was the man in the out house I think he got a bit of a fright when he opened the door and the man lowered the news paper. It was a fun busy day.
Wow look at my very first harvest from my garden a great big bunch of silver beet. I have got some beetroot that will be ready soon . We pulled out the broccoli and cabbages because the pesky little white butterflies really liked them and ate lots and lots of big holes in them. In a few weeks we will plant some more vegetables.
We headed outside with the chalk . I asked Brody what he would like to draw he replied Brody and promptly lad down so i could trace around him. Then he hopped up and drew the clothes on telling me top blue, pants. He chatted away quite abit while doing this activity telling me what he was doing as he did it ie eyes, nose , mouth. It stayed on the concrete for a few days each time we past it he said Brody.
This is what made my hands go orange ! We coloured water and froze it in stages then Arnita sneaked in some of my toys. When it was completely frozen Arnita gave me a hammer and chisel and I tapped away and found all sorts of things hidden in the ice. We didn't think about the dye staining my hands but it certainly did.
Here Brody is doing a little science activity. Firstly adding salt all over the solid ice ball then slowly adding different coloured dyes and watching as they ball changed colour and the salt ate into the ice. Brody was really animated when we were doing this activity first he was intrigued at how cold the ice ball was and then at how heavy it was. He seemed to have fun doing this activity.
